The purpose of the media kick-off was to announce the date for the 16th Annual Home Oil Company Charity Golf Classic. The Classic will take place on May 7, 2004 at the Highland Oaks Golf Course. Mr. Tim Shirley, CEO & President of Home Oil Co. stated "Giving back to the community we serve is our obligation and responsibility. We are extremely proud to be affiliated with the Wiregrass United Way and this year's golf tournament. We ask for all of our friends and associates to come play with us or sponsor a team or hole sign on May 7, 2004."
The Wiregrass United Way provides funding for 35 agencies in a five county area. Those counties are Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston. The Golf Classic is a fun way to show commitment to our community and to assist the United Way in funding those agencies that provide critical services to the Wiregrass. The focus areas of the Wiregrass United Way are Meeting Basic Needs, Disaster Relief, Serving People with Special Needs, Strengthening Families & Individuals, Helping Youth Succeed and Promoting Health & Wellness. Local volunteers, from the five counties, determine how funds are distributed among the local member agencies.
The tournament format will be a 4-person scramble. Registration, range balls, putting contest, and a breakfast buffet all begin at 9:30 a.m... Shotgun start at 11:00 a.m., with the awarding of prizes immediately following. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, net and gross, the 3 longest drives and the 3 closest to the pin.
