The 2017 Wiregrass United Way Pacesetter Kickoff was held on August 4th at Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center in Dothan. Over 100 businesses in the Wiregrass have signed up to be Pacesetters and do their WUW employee campaigns before mid-September. The 2017 goal was announced as $2,840,000, with an additional $400,000 available from the Wiregrass Foundation Challenge Grant of $400,000 when we reach goal. Miss Alabama Jessica Procter was on hand to help announce the goal.
After the Pacesetter Kickoff program, volunteers stayed to help package over 20,000 meals for the Wiregrass Area Food Bank in under one hour. These meals will go to local senior citizens participating in the Food Bank's brown bag program.
